Bnos Aliya Prepares For Pesach

This week, Bnos Aliya students took a meaningful step toward Chag HaPesach with a series of engaging and educational experiences that brought the story of Yetziyas Mitzrayim to life.

Rabbi Jonathan Rietti, renowned educator and speaker, visited both upper and lower elementary divisions to present a dynamic overview of the Jewish historical timeline. He highlighted where Pesach fits in our national story and helped students connect personally to our rich past. His message emphasized that each student is part of a greater, ongoing story—one that began with the Avos, continued through Yetziyas Mitzrayim, and lives on in every Jewish home today.

To reinforce this powerful idea, students participated in a lively חזרה on the full timeline in preparation for learning סיפור יציאת מצרים. The תלמידות in כתות א’—ה’ impressed their teachers with their enthusiasm and deepening understanding, making the review both exciting and memorable.

Adding a hands-on component to the learning, students also had the unique opportunity to participate in an on-site Matzah Factory led by Rabbi Fried of Chabad of the Upper West Side. Students explored the הלכות and מלאכות associated with matzah production—such as zoreh (winnowing)—and even ground their own flour. Each student went home with a handmade (not kosher l’Pesach) matzah, a taste of freshly baked matzah, and a box of kosher l’Pesach matzah to use at their own sederim.
