Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

This past Monday, the elementary and middle schools students celebrated Martin Luther King Day with a unique laser show presented by Prismatic Magic. Through a mesmerizing sound and light show, students learned about the political, historical and cultural influence of Black Americans. As students swayed to the music, they learned about figures they have heard of as well as many more that they were not yet familiar with. America is a melting pot and each group, whether from a specific region, race or religion, helps shape the tapestry of America. It is important to recognize and respect how each group impacts American society. After the program, the elementary school students continued their study of Martin Luther King Jr. and his peaceful method for bringing about change. Everything that he did helped promote civil rights for the black community. The students read books, watched videos and discussed MLK Jr. and his legacy. Another way that people celebrate Martin Luther King Day is by doing community service. The middle school followed this route and participated in a chesed project.
