BPY Celebrates Presidents Day

Dressed in red, white and blue, the BPY elementary school students proudly showed their patriotism in celebration of Presidents Day. As a continuation of their study of cartography, students went on a scavenger hunt to identify the states where the presidents were born. The students discovered that the presidents came from 21 states. The majority of the presidents came from Virginia (8) and Ohio (7). To mark this special day, students in grades one through five also enjoyed listening to a variety of Presidents Day read-alouds. The students chose a book they were interested in listening to and joined students from different grades. In the various stations, they began with the “Star Spangled Banner” and a brief introductory video about the history of Presidents Day, followed by the read-alouds. It is amazing how much the children learned about the presidents from picture books.
