BPY Celebrates Yom Ha’atzmaut

Yom Ha’atzmaut at Ben Porat Yosef was a day full of joy and learning, with separate specialized programming for early childhood, elementary grades, and junior high grades. The day began with a ruach-filled shacharit and Hallel. Early Childhood students then packed their suitcases, got their passports stamped, boarded a plane and visited many sites in Israel, including the Technion, where they learned about electrical circuits. Elementary school students become “archaeologists” and restored artifacts, among other workshops, and the junior high students learned about and experienced life-changing Israeli innovations, such as Waze, holographic technology, the molecular scanner, and Machon Tzomet. The day concluded with a joyous BPY family chagiga, complete with dinner, dancing, daglanut performed by the first through fifth grades, and a special ceremony honoring the different segments of Israeli society.
