Ben Porat Yosef (BPY) students of grades one through five enjoyed and learned during a Discovery Learning Day, BPY’s unique STEEM (science, technology, engineering, English language arts, and math) program that was held on October 1. The program taught the elementary school students all about estimating, measuring and comparing. The students learned about the incredible abilities of different animals and tested their own physical limits in the same areas. English language arts was incorporated as well; students prepared for the day by reading the book, “If You Hopped Like a Frog,” by David M. Schwartz. Incorporating Judaic studies as well, the students even studied measurement in Tanach and the measurements of a kosher sukkah.
