Ben Porat Yosef eighth grade students screened their documentary, “Names, Not Numbers^©,” on Thursday, June 14. The documentary project began at the start of the year and culminated in this final performance. Throughout the year, students researched the backgrounds and family histories of three Holocaust survivors, and then prepared, conducted and filmed interviews with them to help document their testimony. The experience was truly meaningful for the students, and the screening, attended by students, parents, two of the survivors featured in the film and Tova Rosenberg, the creator of the “Names, Not Numbers^©” program, was an important evening in the continuing and collective efforts to preserve the truth and legacy of survivors and this chapter in Jewish history.
