Engineers Aviva and Jami from the Port Authority NYNJ visited the BPY first grade engineers today. They shared strategies they use to reduce sound during construction projects, like at the George Washington Bus Terminal, GW Bridge and cashless tolls collections. First graders are working on designing, building and testing sound reducing walls to go between a gym and library. They are using volume data to determine the best designs. Students learned that engineers solve similar problems, work in teams, have constraints and take measurements—and are women!
