Ben Porat Yosef first grade students continued learning about how the scientific method (systematic observation, measurement, experiment and the formulation, testing and modification of hypotheses) can help them ask and answer important questions about which they are curious. They wondered: “Who is stronger: me or a Bess Beetle?” After putting forth their predictions, the students learned how to formulate experiments and then conduct them in order to come to a conclusion, or revision of an initial hypothesis. This time, they learned that a student can pull about 2-3 their own weight, but a Bess Beetle can pull up to 14 times of its own weight.
