BPY first graders explored different parts that make a whole number. Because Rosh Hashanah is just around the corner, they used a basket of apples to help them understand this math concept. The students were asked to divide the apples into two baskets in different ways. The students came up with many ways to make seven such as three and four, two and five, six and one and seven and zero. They also created addition sentences to go along with the parts and the whole.
