The children in Gan Chaverim are already very familiar with 2-D shapes and have begun to explore 3-D shapes (sphere, cone, cylinder, pyramid, rectangular prism and cube). The students noticed the differences between 2-D and 3-D shapes and looked at the different attributes of each kind of shape. They became “shape pirates” and had to find the pirate’s treasure that was hidden under a card with a picture of a 3-D shape. The children had to choose a shape and describe its attributes before turning it over to see if the pirate treasure was hidden underneath.
