Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

Inch by inch, the BPY first and second grade mathematicians became measurement experts at the school’s annual Math Night. Through songs, a story and fun games and projects, the students learned about standard and nonstandard measurements. “How Big is a Foot?” helped the students understand the importance of using a standard for measurement. Throughout the program, they had the opportunity to use either rulers, paperclips or popsicle sticks to measure items around them. For the final activity, the students created measurement monster masterpieces! Each monster was unique and had its own personality (and measurements)!
