On October 28, as part of the Ben Porat Yosef junior high speaker series, students received a presentation from Yossi Kahana and Lt. Colonel Tiran Attia, both of “Special in Uniform.” The program, developed and run jointly by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Jewish National Fund (JNF), enables young adults with special needs to serve in the IDF. The presentation was conducted entirely in Hebrew. The speakers focused on the concepts of “Kol Yisrael areivim zeh la’zeh” (“All of Israel is responsible for one another”) and “Ve’ahavta l’reacha ka’mocha” (“Love your neighbor as yourself”). They emphasized that everyone has something to contribute and everyone needs support in some area.
