Kabbalat Shabbat on Friday ended with a surprise announcement that Gibushon 2020 was about to start! The students on Zoom were in shock and then once it hit them, they were bubbling with excitement! The first big event took place on Sunday, with a special Gibushon parade. Families dressed up and decorated their cars to reflect their team’s color and theme. With music blasting in the background they showed off their car “floats,” cheered on by teachers and administrators. Each family was treated to a special snack and BPY swag to be used during the rest of the competitions. On Monday, the festivities continued with a day filled with activities and challenges. People’s houses were buzzing as their children ran around preparing for their activities. Whether green for Eretz or blue for Shamayim, all BPY students focused on the same theme “Am Echad Belev Echad!”
Early childhood was so excited to have the opportunity to join in this year’s Gibushon. Although they had their own activities, they definitely added to the overall school spirit. At the end of the day, all three divisions joined together for the presentation of each team’s banner, song and dance, video and divrei Torah in both Hebrew and English. It was heartwarming to see how students found ways to come together as a team even though they could not be together in person. The presentations were impressive! Yashar koach to all of the participants! A special thank you to team captains Abe Bensoussan, Danit Bieler, Aviva Pinto, Judah Lopkin, Jacqueline Koutcher and Anna Tachauer who put in hours to make this the best Gibushon ever!
