BPY Kindergarteners Study Coding

Ben Porat Yosef Kindergarten students were introduced to the concept of coding through a hands-on fun experience. The students played a game, in which a robot, named Cubeto, needed the students’ help to return to his castle. Students planned and created a series of tasks for Cubeto to perform in order to get to his destination.

Through trial and error, the students learned how to create a function code and troubleshoot when Cubeto got stuck along the way. While having Cubeto travel the map, students also focused on their Hebrew vocabulary, using the Hebrew directional words for ‘straight, right and left,’ that were pertinent to guide Cubeto in his journey. The children were captivated by this exercise, which provided an interdisciplinary experience, blending a study of cartography, coding and Hebrew language.
