BPY celebrated Yom Yerushalayim together with a parade outside with a beautiful display of love for Israel, joy and ruach! Students learned about the Old City gates and held beautiful artistic representations while they marched outside to songs of Yerushalayim.
The students also learned about an additional significance to this special day. It is Memorial Day for the Ethiopian Jews who perished on their way to Israel. Morah Elsa, a BPY teacher was a baby when she arrived with her family on foot in Operation Solomon. Dressed in authentic Ethiopian clothing, she visited all of the elementary grades, and shared her family’s moving story. The children were fascinated by her family’s determination to reach Eretz Yisrael and were amazed by the challenges they faced.
