BPY seventh grade students concluded their physics unit on motion and the study of Newton’s three laws of motion by creating Newton scooters. They all did an excellent job in fulfilling the parameters of the challenge. Their vehicle had to move 1.5 meters and could not use any form of electricity or the pull of gravity to move. In addition, they think of ways to move the vehicle without a push, or help it in any way as it travels from the starting line to the finish line. The students were very creative from using balloons to a mousetrap to moving and creating the vehicle structure from mostly recycled materials.
