Every year, Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 (3/14), as the mathematical constant pi begins with 3.14. This year, in middle school, students in Morah Lauren’s math classes completed a 400-piece paper chain to display the first 400 digits of pi. Each digit (0-9) was represented by a different color and students worked collaboratively in each class to put the digits of pi in order and then hang it around the classroom. Did you know that there is a real phenomenon in which people associate numbers with colors? It’s called grapheme-color synesthesia.
