Morah Stephanie, BPY’s math teacher and math curriculum coordinator visited a pre-k class to teach a lesson on “How many?” The children all looked at the same picture and were able to see many different things: Some students saw one apple, others saw one core, while others saw five seeds. There are many different ways to look at something. This led to a rich conversation and was an introduction to labeling and common language. This math lesson challenged and engaged the students in pre-k.
