BPY Presents ‘Once Upon a Mattress’

Before Pesach break, over 30 students from BPY in grades three through eight performed “Once Upon A Mattress,” G2K edition, to two sold out shows! Director and choreographer, Rebecca Lopkin, of Envision Theater, and her talented team consisting of Nathan Kruman, musical director, and Beth Selter, assistant director, began working with the children in October. The actors and audience alike were thrilled to be part of a live theater production—the energy was palpable in the air. Three eighth graders, many of whom had participated in BPY’s theater productions since the third grade, were awarded graduation medallions after the curtain call at the second show. Director Lopkin called each student to center stage, listed each of their show credits and then placed the medallion over their head. Afterwards the eighth graders took center stage and took their final bows on the BPY stage. It was truly an event for the ages and everyone can’t wait to see what next year’s show will be!
