BPY Second Grade Celebrates Mesibat Chumash

This past Sunday, the BPY second grade students celebrated with great excitement their wonderful Mesibat Chumash. The students put on a play about the unique journey of Avraham Avinu to the land of Israel that was promised to him, and about his courageous decision to leave what was familiar and well known to him to listen to Hashem’s commandment to go to the land of Yisrael despite all of the difficulties involved. The students also presented the story of the rivalry between the shepherds of Avraham and the shepherds of Lot and the ultimate reconciliation by choosing to split the different lands. The entire play was put on in fluent and clear Hebrew for which the students practiced diligently along with the English translation on the screens. At the end of the performance, which included singing, dancing and an elaborate and artistic setting, each student read a personal verse from the Torah, with tropes, that they were practicing in school with the Chazan.  At the end of the mesiba, the students received their personal Chumash which will accompany them in their Torah learning. Mazal tov and Mabrook to the second graders who did such a wonderful job.
