In preparation for their upcoming Mesibat HaChumash, which will take place in December, Ben Porat Yosef second graders visited Congregation Beth Tefillah in Paramus, on November 17, in order to learn how a Torah scroll is actually written. Rabbi Grossbaum of Living Legacy demonstrated to the students the art of being a sofer. The children then had the chance to practice writing using actual writing implements and parchment that is used to create a Sefer Torah. Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to read psukim, with ta’amei hamikra, directly from a real Sefer Torah.
