Ben Porat Yosef sixth grade girls are participating in the school’s Matan Bat Mitzvah Program as part of their preparation to become bnot mitzvah. They recently met on motzei Shabbat to learn, with their mothers, about Devorah and the many “hats” she wore and roles she played in Jewish history. They then had the opportunity to reflect on their varied roles in their own lives and the different hats they wear. Following their discussion, the young women embraced their inner warriors with a martial arts class led by Faige Drapkin—punching, blocking and kicking while working in pairs.
