Veterans Day was the perfect opportunity for BPY students to reflect on the freedoms they enjoy as Americans and give thanks to the men and women who fought and continue to fight to preserve those rights. Through multimedia presentations and class discussions, students learned about the significance of the day. They were fascinated by how many millions of veterans are currently living in the United States. To show gratitude to veterans, students of all ages are writing letters to both soldiers who are currently serving as well as to veterans. The school will send the letters to the Veterans Hospital in East Orange, to Jewish troops around the world, through Kosher Troops, as well as to Operation Gratitude that distributes letters to deployed troops, new recruits, veterans, wounded warriors and first responders. In addition, students will be collecting mini chocolates that will be packaged and delivered to troops on Chanukah. The goal is to let American veterans know that their service is appreciated.
