This past week, the BPY first grade had a wonderful trip to the Society of Illustrators. Students had the opportunity to view a juried collection of original artwork from children’s books published this year. They were excited to find original illustrations from books thye’ve read in class, and also enjoyed reading additional books that were on display alongside the artwork. The children were treated to an interactive workshop with author/illustrator Mika Song, who led the classes in writing and illustrating a “how-to” comic. It was wonderful to see the students’ enthusiasm for reading, writing and illustrating!
