Ben Porat Yosef (BPY) is thrilled to welcome new faculty members for the upcoming 2020-2021/5781 school year, including:
Aaron Allanson to the physical education department, where he will be teaching middle school boys’ gym classes. Allanson comes to BPY with more than 10 years experience teaching physical education and coaching students in multiple sports both in the USA and in the UK. Originally from Hull, England, he graduated from the University of Hull with a bachelor’s in sports coaching and performance. Allanson also played professional, semi- professional and collegiate soccer. He is looking forward to bringing a passion for sports, physical activity and health to BPY athletes.
Dr. Samantha Katz to Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) program. Dr. Katz earned her undergraduate degree from Barnard College, and her doctorate from Stony Brook University. Her work has focused on literacy development and the link between children’s social emotional skills and academic progress. Dr. Katz has consulted for schools in Westchester County and has extensive experience in educational assessment. She has published on curricular approaches to literacy development, presented at the Society for Research in Child Development and taught undergraduate courses. Passionate about English language and literature, she looks forward to instilling a love of reading and writing within BPY students.
