In the latest development of the Jersey City kosher supermarket shooting, which occured nearly two years ago on December 10, 2019, a state grand jury has announced that no criminal charges will be pressed against the police officers who shot and killed the attackers.
The decision was made after deliberations regarding the deaths of David N. Anderson, 47, and Francine Graham, 50. The couple was killed by police after they shot and killed Jersey City Det. Joseph Seals, as well as Mindy Ferencz, Douglas Miguel “Miguel” Rodriguez Barzola, and Moshe Deutsch during the three-hour ordeal.
Within minutes of the attack, nearby police officers responded to the incident and took incoming gunfire from Anderson and Graham. The officers suffered gunshot wounds during a gunfire exchange. Ultimately, Anderson and Graham were shot and killed during the exchange.
“After considering the facts, evidence, and testimony from the OPIA investigation, the state grand jury found the actions of the officers were justified. An officer may use deadly force in New Jersey when the officer reasonably believes it is immediately necessary to protect the officer or another person from imminent danger of death or serious bodily harm,” the Attorney General said, according to Patch.com.
