Bris Avrohom Attends the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at EWR

(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) On Friday, September 10, the Port Authority of NY/NJ invited Rabbi Mordechai and Rabbi Avremy Kanelsky to deliver the invocation at Newark Liberty International Airport for the annual 9/11 memorial ceremony, commemorating the 20th anniversary of that tragic day.

Many employees of the Port Authority were present as well as members of the rescue squad and survivors of 9/11. The highlight of the event was the unveiling of a monument created from the 30,000 pounds of steel that was salvaged from the South Tower.

The speakers included the chairman of the Port Authority Board of Commissioners, Kevin O’Toole; director of aviation, Huntley Lawrence; and general manager of Newark Liberty Airport, James Gill. Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky shared in his invocation that in light of the nearly 3,000 people that perished on this day, let us take upon ourselves to do eight good deeds a day. Eight good deeds a day for an entire year results in 3,000 good deeds this year, thus transforming the world into a better place for all mankind. Following the invocation Rabbi Avremy Kanelsky, director of the Jewish Information Stand at Newark Airport, led the memorial service of Kel Malei Rachamim.
