(Courtesy of Bris Avrohom) On Sunday, 13 Tammuz, July 2, a Farbrengen was held in honor of the liberation of the previous Lubavitcher Rebbe from the Soviet Union. The Rebbe was arrested for spreading Yiddishkeit, building mikvaos, establishing Jewish schools and sending rabbis to different communities in Russia to lead Jewish kehillas.
Upon being released, the Rebbe said this day should be commemorated and utilized as a day of celebration. Every Jew, even one whose only affiliation is a Jewish nickname, should rejoice on this day and strengthen himself by increasing his Torah learning and commitment to mitzvos. Gratitude should be given to God on this day, for the great miracles performed for the Rebbe.
Rabbi Avremy Kanelsky organized this Farbrengen at the home of Rabbi Zevi Sasonkin.
