With the beginning of the month of Elul, Bris Avrohom is preparing for the High Holy Days by teaching children the significance of Rosh Hashanah—the Jewish New Year. The table is set with the symbols of the holiday, with lit candles, covered challah, the honey and the apple to be dipped for a sweet new year. All eyes are on Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky, executive director, Bris Avrohom, Hillside, in his white kittel (the garment symbolizing purity as we start the year anew) blowing a shofar. In the spirit of the High Holy Days, Bris Avrohom encourages all Jews to find the nearest synagogue to celebrate the holidays. Bris Avrohom has High Holiday Prayer Books with English, Hebrew and Russian translations. For more details regarding services and preparations for these holidays, call 908-289-0770.
