Newark Airport observed 9/11 with a memorial ceremony at its headquarters. General Manager Doug Stearns and the airport chief of police both spoke, and a moment of silence was observed.

Rabbi Mordechai Kanelsky spoke about positive actions that each person can take, especially that just before the Jewish New Year, and how each positive action pushes away darkness. Rabbi Avremy Kanelsky, who is the director of the Jewish information stand at Newark Airport, blew the shofar.
