On Sunday, April 3, members of Brownie Troop 96887 met with Aja Cohen and learned about yoga. Ms. Cohen taught the girls about yoga, played games and music and shared a book connected with yoga. The troop then had a chance, with Ms. Cohen’s guidance, to try out various yoga exercises and positions.
The session was fun and the kids left the class with smiles on their faces and appreciation for the mental and physical challenges that yoga presents.
Practicing yoga for the past 15 years, Aja Cohen teaches at the Sunshine Garden Learning Center at the Rodda Center. Aja has completed her 200-hour teacher training and her 95-hour kids yoga training. She has taught group and private classes for adults and now has added kids’ yoga to her repertoire. Children are the future, and through yoga, Aja aims to create mindful, healthy and compassionate little yogis. For more information, you can reach Aja at [email protected] or find her on Facebook at Yoga by Aja.
The troop is shomer Shabbat and meets approximately twice a month on Sunday afternoons. The meetings are graciously hosted by Congregation Shaare Tefilah of Teaneck. The troop is a low-cost, low-key activity for girls in first through third grade.
