Recently, Bruriah High School seniors in Mrs. Strashun’s basic law class had a chance to see our justice system in action when they went to court to observe portions of an intense and emotional murder trial. Here are some of the reactions from the class to what was observed live in the courtroom:
“Although it was difficult to watch the defense hammer away at the prosecution case, I appreciate the point that the process is designed to protect the innocent.”
“Seeing the process live was a meaningful experience and taught me a lot about our legal system. I was impressed with the defense presentation; the attorney did his best.”
“As the defense attorney who spoke to us suggested, the best way to learn about our legal system is to observe trials in a courtroom setting. He also advised that if we are inspired to pursue a career in law, to follow our passion and go with it! You never know which one of us will end up being a trial lawyer!”
