Wearing masks has changed the way many display their pride in reciting brachot. In order to combat this COVID-era disguise, Bruriah’s Word Watch Committee used this week as an opportunity to give everyone an inspirational outlook on saying brachot loud and proud. Throughout the week, students heard amazing words of inspiration from senior Ahuva Becker, juniors Shoshana Ringer, Shira Pfeiffer, Ayelet Mendeles and Avigail Mendeles and sophomore Atara Koplowitz. They each talked about a specific bracha and what special aspect it adds to their everyday lives. On Tuesday, students had the opportunity to be inspired by Rabbi Marcus presenting to the entire school on the topic of the power of a bracha. BHS concluded the week with a brachot party where everyone enjoyed delicious food but, of course, only after saying a beautiful bracha! Mayana Rottenstreich, a junior at Bruriah shared, “from the Rabbi Marcus speech to the yummy brachot party, this Word Watch week really helped me appreciate and understand the importance of saying brachos!!”
