Bruriah High School and Middle School is delighted to announce the addition of several exceptional new faculty members this year. These seasoned educators will blend seamlessly with our current dynamic faculty to further cultivate the environment of joyful learning that defines the Bruriah experience.
Shoshana Sperling, Limudei Kodesh Faculty
Joining the limudei kodesh faculty is Shoshana Sperling who will be teaching 12th grade haftarahs and Koheles. A seasoned educator with over 30 years of experience, Mrs. Sperling has previously taught at Manhattan High School, Naaleh and Machon Ora, and she is a sought-after adult educator as well. She brings a wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience to the classroom, and her passion for Torah and Yiddishkeit impacts her students in a meaningful and memorable way. “I am now on my second generation of teaching,” Mrs. Sperling explained. “I am excited to join the Bruriah staff with a storied tradition of commitment to excellence in education.”
Rabbi Shimmy Steinmetz, Rebbe
Rabbi Shimmy Steinmetz joins Bruriah’s TSBP/ Halacha department. Rabbi Steinmetz, who received semicha from RIETS and continued at the Wexner Kollel Elyon, is the incoming rabbi at Congregation Adath Israel in Hillside. Having previously served as the rabbi of the Albert Einstein Synagogue in the Bronx, Rabbi Steinmetz shared, “I am honored to be part of a faculty that is excited about the prospect of inspiring young women in their ahavas Hashem and yiras shamayim.”
Rabbi Noah Wittenberg, Rebbe
Also joining Bruriah’s TSBP/Halacha department is Rabbi Noah Whittenburg. Rabbi Whittenburg holds a bachelor’s in communications from Rutgers University, a master’s in Jewish education from Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education, and semicha from RIETS. His extensive experience includes teaching at RPRY in Highland Park and at SCY High School in San Diego as well as adult education classes in Chicago. Rabbi Whittenburg is also the assistant rabbi at Congregation Ahavas Achim in Highland Park. Rabbi Whittenburg shared, “I look forward to joining the TSBP faculty and bringing Halacha and the halachic process to life for our students!”
Racheli Finkelstein,
Limudei Kodesh Faculty
Teaching Chumash and Ivrit this year is Ms. Finkelstein, a proud Bruriah alumna with experience in both formal and informal Jewish education.. Ms. Finkelstein holds a bachelor’s in Jewish studies from Stern College with concentrations in Tanach and Jewish philosophy, and she completed coursework at Michlalah Jerusalem College as well as at Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education. Ms. Finkelstein enthusiastically shared, “I am thrilled to return to my alma mater to contribute to the vibrant learning environment.”
Abby Prince, Science Department Chair
Finally, Bruriah welcomes Abby Prince who will serve as the chair of the science department as well as teach ninth grade biology. Mrs. Prince joins Bruriah with over two decades years of experience as a lead science teacher in the public school system. With a bachelor’s from Stern College and a master’s from CUNY Baruch College, Mrs. Prince meets each student where she is at in order to layer a deeper and more personalized understanding of the subject matter. “I am excited to join the staff of Bruriah,” Mrs. Prince said, “Bruriah is a wonderful school known for its high academic standards and Torah values; an institution where derech eretz fills the hallways and classrooms, and I am excited to be a part of it.”
