This past Monday morning, December 25, the Bruriah gym overflowed with almost 400 Bruriah students, mothers, sisters, grandmothers, faculty and alumnae for our annual Women’s learn-in and brunch. Joining together to learn Torah and connect with each other was the ultimate embodiment of the program’s theme “K’Ish Echad B’Lev Echad.” It felt only fitting for the theme of the day’s learning to be “K’ish echad b’lev echad,” as this being together for limmud Torah and camaraderie seemed to be the ultimate embodiment of this concept.
As we are all experiencing the heartache in Eretz Yisrael, we are also simultaneously witnessing unprecedented levels of achdus in our community at large. It therefore felt extremely meaningful to explore more deeply the middah of achdus in Tanach. Bruriah Junior Faiga Gordon designed a comprehensive source packet for the program that created a dynamic atmosphere of multi-generational learning.
Following the learning session, the audience was privileged to hear from world renowned lecturer Chani Juravel who spoke about the importance of viewing people in all of their totality as a means of developing achdus.
The feedback from the program was phenomenal. Freshman Orly Avraham remarked how beautiful it was to see everyone learning together, with her mother Bracha Avraham in agreement, saying how meaningful this opportunity was for the both of them. Bruriah Principal Dr. Bethany Strulowitz shared, “Seeing so many women of all ages join together to learn Torah and feel inspired was a beautiful testament to Bruriah’s rich legacy and incredibly bright future.”
