Bruriah parents and faculty gathered together for a dynamic and engaging book club discussion on Monday evening led by Director of Academic Enrichment and English Department Chair Margueya Poupko. Entitled “The Letter We Wear: A Literary Look at Shame and Redemption,” participants enjoyed an enlightening analysis of “The Scarlet Letter” by Nathaniel Hawthorne and its application to the Rambam’s Hilchos Teshuva. Thanks to a generous sponsorship by the Jewish Federation of the Greater MetroWest NJ, the first 30 registrants also received a free copy of Hawthorne’s “The Scarlet Letter” or Erica Brown’s “Return: Daily Inspiration for the Days of Awe.”
Dr. Bethany Strulowitz, Bruriah’s principal, noted, “Exciting programs like this that foster partnership between home and school, showcase our incredible faculty, and inspire academic excellence and a commitment to religious growth are at the heart of the Bruriah magic. We can’t wait to announce more parent-school partnership programs throughout the year!”
