At Bruriah, the Open House is not only an exciting time for prospective students but for all Bruriah students as well. The week leading up is filled with endless energy, as you will find the halls buzzing with activity as students eagerly prepare to welcome visitors to the school (and in this case, virtually). Throughout the week, student ambassadors assembled packages to be delivered to each prospective student. The colorful package contained three components: printed interactive materials needed for the virtual Open House, a customized Bruriah snack pack and a personalized note from a current Bruriah student. On Thursday night, each prospective eighth grader received a special visit from a current Bruriah student in their community who gave them all of their supplies and boosted excitement for the online Sunday event.
On Sunday morning, 160+ girls and their parents gathered on Zoom for the Bruriah Open House. It started off with speeches from GO president Esther Sebbag, Alumnus Lily Lightman, Halacha Rebbe Rabbi Marcus and Bruriah’s Principal Esther Eisenman. Afterwards, five insightful and interactive model lessons in Judaic Studies, secular studies and STEAM were led by Bruriah teachers. Next, the parents and eighth graders were split up into different Zoom sessions. The parents heard from panels of administrators, parents and students while the eighth grade participants played a Bruriah-themed Kahoot game and met the G.O. They were given an opportunity to ask questions live as well. Students are so excited to welcome and get to know the potential members of Bruriah’s Class of 2025!
