While Bruriah’s rosters and fall schedules are being finalized, the teams are getting ready for action. The JV basketball team, under Coach Dena Lichtman, will open its season at home vs. Ma’ayanot on October 24. Sophomores Hannah Grayman (East Brunswick), Adina Shayowitz (Bergenfield), Aliza Warburg (Teaneck), Sarah Weiss (Passaic), and Avigayil Zupnick (Teaneck), are looking forward to the game and hope the team takes an early-season victory.

Varsity basketball A league, led by captains Gabi Goldberg (‘18, Hillside), Shira Hagler (‘18, Teaneck) and Jessie Orgel (‘18, Edison), host a pre-season game vs. Flatbush. Their regular season will open Oct. 28 at home vs. Kushner.

Varsity basketball B league is led this season by captains Rina Finkelstein (‘18 Teaneck), Aliza Kurtz (‘18 Passaic) and Talya Markowitz (‘18 Bergenfield), and returns the majority of its players from last year.

JV volleyball sophomores Goldie Goldberg (Passaic), Goldie Perlowitz (Clifton), Dena Sheer (Passiac) and Sarah Stuart (Monsey) are among teammates excited to see their season get underway vs. Ramaz on October 25. Coach of the JV and varsity volleyball teams, Chris Tucker, will coach both teams that night in its season-opening doubleheader. Seniors Miriam Brickman (West Orange), Michal Herman (Bergenfield), Gabby Landau (Monsey), Adina Schmidt (Bergenfield), Ahava Sheer (Passaic) and Adina Spitzer (Monsey) return this year for the Lightning.

Volleyball B league, under Coach Aviva Jacobs looks to repeat a successful season and takes to the road against Shulamith-Brooklyn on October 30. Seniors Rachelli Benoff (New Milford), Rivki Hook (Bergenfield) and Arielle Miodownik (Highland Park) will help usher in the new season.

The swim team, led by captains Naomi Kolb and Chana Silver (both ‘18, Elizabeth), has its caps and goggles at the ready for another exciting season at the pool.
