Bruriah Learns About Digital Safety From Rahel Bayar

Last week, Bruriah was privileged to welcome Rahel Bayar, a proud Bruriah alumna, former sex crimes and child abuse prosecutor, and founder of The Bayar Group, a global consultancy focused on abuse and harassment prevention. With her dynamic speaking style, Ms. Bayar delivered an impactful presentation to the students with true stories that emphasized the importance of setting and respecting personal boundaries, understanding the meaning of consent and recognizing the signs of grooming, manipulation and exploitation. She also empowered the students to speak up when they witness suspicious behavior. Students shared afterwards how much they enjoyed her engaging presentation that infused them with the knowledge and confidence to recognize and respond to inappropriate and illegal behavior, both online and offline.

Later that evening, Bruriah’s Parent-School Partnership hosted Ms. Bayar for an equally dynamic and informative discussion with parents and faculty, providing them with the necessary tools to guide their children in abuse and harassment prevention. Parents felt empowered with the knowledge and support to continue the critical conversations at home.

Bruriah High School and Middle School is committed to fostering the well-being of their students with a comprehensive guidance curriculum, and they are grateful to Rahel Bayar for helping the students develop the confidence to navigate the physical and digital world. Special thanks to the Healthcare Foundation of New Jersey for their generous support of mental health programs.
