Bruriah students witnessed history being made. Through a live feed, the students watched the opening of the American Embassy in Jerusalem. Listening to David Friedman, American ambassador to Israel, speak about the months leading up to the momentous occasion brought tears of joy and hope to many of the students’ eyes. Rabbi Joseph Oratz, principal of Bruriah, spoke to students about the importance of Yerushalayim in our history and our current lives and how this day will be an important day in world history and in our Jewish history. Students ended the program by reciting two perakim of Tehillim which discuss the importance of Yerushalayim. A group of freshmen were heard as they were walking out of the program saying, “We are so lucky to have been able to witness this in real time.”
