Bruriah Middle School Eighth Graders Participate in Law Adventure

Bruriah Middle School’s eighth graders participated in a Law Adventure program, run by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation. The contest, which is the middle school equivalent of Mock Trial, requires students to learn about the court system, examine different types of court cases and construct a case based on topics chosen by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation. With the help of their teacher, Leora Reichenberg, the students worked on their case for months, before submitting the case to be judged within their grade division.

This past week some students performed their case at the New Jersey State Bar Foundation in New Brunswick, in front of various schools and a judge. The students acted out their “Instagram Insanity” case, discussing the topic of cyber crime between the fictitious characters, Julia Johnson and Stella Steeler. Following the performance, the audience acted as the jury and determined that Stella Steeler was not guilty of cyber crime. Reichenberg and the entire eighth grade received a plaque for the school and individual awards. The students were excited to learn their case and came in second place.
