A few months ago, Bruriah Middle School leaders started planning a remote graduation that would be meaningful and memorable for their eighth grade students. The overwhelming feedback from parents, students and staff after a week-long celebration is proof that they succeeded! The graduation week began with a festive car parade in the Bruriah parking lot. With decorated cars and cheering, each graduate stopped at various stations to receive a cap and gown, “graduation in a box,” individualized cake and more. Each girl was videoed walking down an aisle which was used later in the week for a Zoom processional. Throughout the week, the girls used select items from their boxes for various Zoom programs such as edible graduations caps, personalized framed poems, and material to decorate their rooms and homes. The week concluded with an incredible Zoom graduation complete with divrei bracha by Rabbi Elazar Meir Teitz, messages from all the middle school teachers, and reflections from each graduate. Mazel Tov to valedictorian Naama Kapustin and salutatorian Shana Kelner. The Bruriah faculty is so proud of the Class of 2020 for their incredible resilience and amazing positive attitude during their last few months in middle school and wish them much hatzlacha in high school.
