Bruriah senior Chana Rutner organized this year’s Gift of Life swabbing drive. According to Ellen Azizollahoff, faculty adviser for this drive, “This was our most successful drive yet. Amazingly, three matches have been found from our drives, since we started running them in 2011.”
Founded by cancer-survivor Jay Feinberg and headquartered in Boca Raton, Florida, Gift of Life is an international public bone marrow and blood stem cell registry. Feinberg’s four year search for a donor came to a close in May 1995. The very last donor—tested at the very last drive—turned out to be his miracle match! He received his transplant a short time later at the world renowned Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, thanks to his miracle match, Becky.
