Bruriah High School’s phenomenal senior class recently rallied together to raise thousands of dollars for chayalim as their final tzedaka initiative before they graduate. This project was organized by senior Esther Bracha Zahtz in response to a phone call from a family friend currently serving in the IDF. She galvanized her classmates to come together for a special Senior Privilege Sale by selling raffle tickets to various prizes and privileges they each donated.
Some seniors donated prizes that utilized their talents like a free locker organization session, makeup tutorial, skirt hemming or homemade loaf of fresh sourdough bread. Others opted to donate fun experiences, like a Thursday night Monsey cholent run, trip to the Ohel, tickets to a Yankees game and even to serve on G.O. for a day. This project underscores the importance of assisting the IDF in any way possible, specifically with one’s unique capabilities and talents.
The excitement and camaraderie generated from this project was incredible, and in just a couple of days, the seniors raised over thousands of dollars by selling tickets for just $1 a piece, with students and faculty alike donating. All proceeds will be going directly to the IDF’s Devorah unit who are currently stationed at the northern border near Lebanon. In the merit of the tzedaka and chesed generated from this Bruriah project, Hashem should watch over all of our precious chayalim and bring them and the hostages home safely and speedily.
