The Bruriah seniors took an interdisciplinary trip to the Union County Courthouse last week where they were given a guided tour of the courtrooms and the jail facilities. This trip served to complement their current English class discussions of Bryan Stevenson’s “Just Mercy,” as they explore the complexities of the justice system and capital punishment. It also paired beautifully with their forensic science elective class, where they have been discussing the intersection between investigations and the criminal justice system. The students enjoyed the opportunity to explore beyond the classroom and to see the implications of their in-class readings and discussions in a real-life setting.
