A snowstorm could not possibly stop Bruriah from having great programming throughout the week of Chanukah! The students were able to enjoy some Chanukah inspiration on their snow day with shiurim by two of Bruriah’s rabbanim, Rabbi Chaim Marcus and Rabbi Zev Goldberg. The girls learned the special status of Zos Chanukah and how they can bring the holiness of the day into their lives from Rabbi Marcus’s shiur. They also learned about the hidden, yet important, lessons found in Parshat Miketz from Rabbi Goldberg. Later in the day, the freshmen and juniors enjoyed a math-themed “Escape the Zoom,” created by Shira Strong, chair of Bruriah’s math department. The students had an opportunity to work in teams in order to figure out the answers to various logic and math puzzles, which concluded with a nine-letter password needed to escape the zoom! Shayna Sabov, a junior at Bruriah, shared, “It was really nice to get to do math in a fun way on our snow day, and even earn some extra credit!” The creative puzzles were a great way to get the students to put their teamwork and problem solving skills into use, in a fantastic way! Overall, the students really enjoyed having the opportunity to learn and have fun on their snow day.
