Bruriah Sophomores Enjoy ‘Mitzvot In Action’ Trip

Bruriah sophomores enjoyed a day filled with mitzvot and fun on their MIA—Mitzvot In Action—trip. They started off their day hearing from Rabbi Eliezer Krohn about brit mila, followed by a delicious breakfast before boarding their bus to Lakewood. There, they heard from Rabbi Sayagh about shatnez, Mrs. Hirth about hafrashat challah, Rabbi Silverstien about safrus, and Rabbi Leiser about shiluach hakan. Not only did they get to hear about all of these phenomenal mitzvot, but they also had a chance to see them in action. Rabbi Sayagh showed what shatnez looks like and showed actual garments that had shatnez. Mrs. Hirth distributed challah dough to each girl, everyone learned how to “take” challah correctly and every student was able to bring home a delicious challah. Rabbi Silverstein showed samples of Tefillin he had written, and the girls had the chance to write with the feather and ink. Rabbi Leiser had a bird’s nest and allowed a few lucky girls to conduct the rare mitzvah of shiluach hakan. To end off the day, the girls enjoyed a relaxing time at the beach along with a delicious dinner. The girls left with a new appreciation for all the mitzvot experienced and performed.

Elana Pascher is a sophomore at Bruriah.
