Seven of Bruriah’s Russian students earned awards from the American Council of Teachers of Russian (ACTR) for demonstrating their writing proficiency in Russian. Rivka Hirsch, Chani Klavan and Meira Sheffey took home Silver medals; Rivka Barnett and Shira Rachlin earned Bronze medals; and Elisheva Schofield earned Honorable Mention.
Bruriah’s Russian students have been participating in this contest for two years. This year there were 1267 students participating nationwide. In order to enroll, students must write essays in Russian on a topic announced at the beginning of a two-hour period.
