Passover won’t be the same this year for families who have relied on Butterflake Bakery in Teaneck for elegant desserts. Owner Richard Heisler said Butterflake Bakery is not producing Passover baked goods. “We are in the process of building a new gluten free baking facility at 444 Cedar Lane and it will not be ready in time,” he explained. “We were unable to secure another location to bake for Passover.”
Heisler said in the past they had used a location in Westchester, New York. In recent years they kashered and baked at the Cedar Lane store, but it didn’t work out this year. “This is a one year anomaly,” he said. “Passover has become a big, important season for us in the past 30 years and we understand the niche Butterflake plays as the only nut free high quality Passover bakery. We look forward to be up and running for
Passover 2024.”
The good news is that Heisler expects the new facility to be ready in four to eight months. “The new baking facility will be something unique,” he said. “We will be producing gluten free, high quality baked goods all year long.”
