The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades announced that it has entered into an agreement with Kehillas Bais Ben Zion and Rabbi Zushe Yosef Blech of Monsey, NY, who will provide kosher certification for the cafe at the JCC effective May 3. Rabbi Blech will be familiar to many in the community as providing kosher certification for the Teaneck Doghouse. The standards of kashruth will be those as generally recognized by major national organizations and consistent with hashgachos provided by Kehillas Bais Ben Zion with the exception that the cafe will not offer Cholov Yisrael/Pas Yisroel products or “t’midi” tuna fish, according to a statement.
The JCC also stated it is committed to providing a welcoming environment for all and looks forward to having the cafe under Rabbinic supervision in the next few weeks and to providing for the needs of the community.
